Sixteen Drivers Nabbed in Kent Police Crackdown on Dangerous Driving
Kent Police took a tough stance on reckless motorists in Thanet, stopping and reporting sixteen drivers during a fresh road safety blitz. The operation, held on Monday 17 March 2025, aimed to clean up dangerous and illegal driving in Ramsgate and Broadstairs.
Focus on Ramsgate and Broadstairs Hotspots
Officers targeted trouble spots including Dumpton Park Drive and Pysons Road after residents raised the alarm about unsafe behaviour on their streets. The Neighbourhood Policing Team and Road Safety Unit teamed up to monitor around 25 vehicles during the evening run.
Offences Include Speeding, Illegal Turns & No Insurance
Among the motoring misdemeanours caught on camera were:
- Speeding
- Tyres with insufficient tread
- Illegal turning
- Incorrect or invalid insurance
One unlucky ride was seized outright for having no insurance. Another driver got an official warning for nuisance driving – but cops warn that a repeat could see their car confiscated and legal action ramped up.
“Everyone has a part to play in keeping our roads safe, and by carrying out enforcement action, it reminds people about the importance of driving in accordance with the law. Operations like this are crucial for protecting the public and responding to residents’ concerns about road safety,”
– PC Andy Ballen
More Road Safety Blitzes Set to Continue in Kent
Kent Police made it clear that this crackdown is just the start. More operations will roll out across the district over the coming months to stop dangerous drivers in their tracks and keep the roads safe for everyone.
