A dramatic rescue unfolded at Headcorn station in Kent tonight after a person was hit by a train.
Emergency Services Rush to Scene
Just after 6.30pm on Sunday, March 12, Kent Fire and Rescue’s Urban Search and Rescue team, British Transport Police, Kent Police, and South East Coast Ambulance Service sprang into action on the platform at Headcorn. The victim was trapped beneath a train, triggering a major emergency operation.
Firefighters Lift Train to Free Victim
Fire crews used heavy blocks to carefully lift the train and free the injured individual. Doctors from the Kent, Sussex, and Surrey Air Ambulance teams worked alongside Network Rail specialists to deliver urgent medical care right at the scene.
Victim Rushed to Hospital with Life-Threatening Injuries
The victim was swiftly taken to hospital under police escort. A British Transport Police spokesman confirmed:
“Officers were called to Headcorn at 6.37pm on 12 March following reports of a casualty on the tracks. Paramedics attended, and a man was taken to hospital. His injuries are currently believed to be life-threatening. The incident is not being treated as suspicious.”
