Chaos at Headcorn: Person Struck by Train in Dramatic Rescue
A major emergency unfolded on Sunday evening at Headcorn station, Kent, after a person was hit by a train just after 6.30pm. Kent Fire and Rescue’s USAR team, British Transport Police, Kent Police, and South East Coast Ambulance rushed to the scene in a tense rescue operation.
Firefighters Lift Train to Free Victim
Doctors from the Kent, Sussex and Surrey air ambulance crews teamed up with Network Rail specialists to carefully free the trapped individual. Firefighters used special blocks to lift the train off the victim, who was then treated on the platform.
Victim Rushed to Hospital with Life-Threatening Injuries
The injured person was swiftly rushed to hospital under police escort. A British Transport Police spokesperson said: “Officers were called to Headcorn at 6.37pm on 12 March following reports of a casualty on the tracks. Paramedics attended and a man was taken to hospital. His injuries are currently believed to be life-threatening. The incident is not being treated as suspicious.”
