Lost Dog Mystery in Clydebank: Can You Help Reunite This Cane Corso?
Scottish SPCA Launches Urgent Appeal
The Scottish SPCA is on the hunt for the owner of a male dog found wandering alone in Clydebank earlier this month. The pooch, believed to be a Cane Corso, was spotted in the G81 area on Tuesday, April 15 and taken to the Scottish SPCA’s Dunbartonshire Animal Rescue and Rehoming Centre on Dumbarton Road, Milton.
Staff quickly scanned the dog for a microchip and found one – but here’s the kicker: it wasn’t registered to anyone. That leaves the charity stumped and desperate for public help to track down his owner.
“He’s a Lovely Boy” – But Owner Missing
“He’s a lovely boy and we’re keen to reunite him with his rightful owner if possible. Unfortunately, without any registered contact details, we’re relying on the public’s help to get him home,” said a Scottish SPCA spokesperson.
The charity is urging anyone who recognises the dog or knows who he belongs to call their helpline immediately on 03000 999 999. No detail is too small to help bring this canine companion back to his family.
Why Keeping Microchip Details Up to Date Matters
The Scottish SPCA also warns that many pets have unregistered or outdated microchip information, making reunions with owners tricky. “This case highlights why it’s crucial to keep pet microchip details current – it can literally save your pet’s life,” the charity added.
Community Rallies to Find Owner
Local residents have rallied on social media, sharing the appeal far and wide. One user wrote, “He looks like such a gentle soul. Hope his owner is found soon.” Another said, “If he’s not claimed, I hope he finds a loving new home.”
The dog remains safe and cared for at the Dumbarton centre as the search continues. If no owner steps forward, he may be put up for adoption to find a fresh start.
