Blaze Rips Through Wickford After Substation Fire Sparks Inferno
A fire that erupted at a substation on High Street, Wickford, has exploded into a derelict building nearby, sparking a major emergency response from Essex County Fire and Rescue Service.
The drama kicked off on the afternoon of Sunday, 18 May 2025. Firefighters managed to get the substation blaze partially under control by cutting the electricity supply, dousing that fire at 4:06pm.
