M23 Shut for Hours Amid Crash Investigation
The M23 was fully closed between junctions 8 and 9 for several hours, causing major delays.
- Northbound carriageway reopened fully just after 8am.
- Southbound lanes 3 and 4 reopened by 2pm.
- Lanes 1 and 2 on the southbound side remain closed for ongoing investigations and are expected to stay shut for several hours.
A Surrey Police spokesperson said: “We thank people for their patience and understanding during this closure.”
Police Probe Underway as Family and Witnesses Sought
Surrey Police confirmed the incident is being thoroughly investigated. No arrests have been made so far.
Because police had contact with the woman in the days before the incident, a mandatory referral has been made to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC).
Officers are urging anyone who saw the woman or has information about the incident to come forward immediately.
