- Stay on A256 as it changes names through Dover until Whitfield Hill Roundabout.
- Take second exit onto Whitfield Hill.
- Proceed to junction with A2.
- At roundabout, take third exit onto A2 southeast bound towards Dover Port.
- A2 meets A20 near the port; normal route resumes from here.
