Ferrero Kinder Products Recalled in Salmonella Scare
A salmonella outbreak linked to a specific Ferrero Kinder product has sparked an urgent product recall across the UK. The alert comes after investigations by UKHSA, Public Health Scotland, Public Health Wales, and Northern Ireland’s Public Health Agency uncovered a worrying connection.
Kids Most at Risk as Ferrero Pulls Products
Several reported salmonella cases involve young children, pushing Ferrero to act fast. The affected products were made at one factory, but other Kinder items remain safe for now. Parents are warned not to feed recalled products to their kids and to follow health advice closely.
Salmonella Symptoms and Safety Advice
- Symptoms: diarrhoea, stomach cramps, nausea, vomiting, and fever
- Usually clears in a few days but can be serious for children and people with weak immune systems
- If symptoms appear, contact your GP or NHS 111 immediately
- Practice strict hygiene to prevent spread, including thorough handwashing and avoiding preparing food for others when unwell
Officials Praise Ferrero’s Precautionary Recall
We welcome Ferrero’s swift precautionary recall,” said Tina Potter, FSA Head of Incidents. “Parents should check their cupboards and avoid giving kids any products listed in the alert to prevent salmonella poisoning.”
Dr Lesley Larkin, UKHSA Surveillance Lead, added: “We’re working closely with Ferrero and public health bodies across the UK to pinpoint the outbreak’s cause and protect the public.”
