Emergency crews rushed to clear a major diesel spill after an HGV incident forced a busy carriageway to close. Fire and Rescue teams recovered the lorry and cleaned up the hazardous spill. But the road isn’t out of the woods yet.
Road Set for Overnight Resurfacing
Following a thorough inspection, officials confirmed the carriageway surface was badly damaged. Repairs will take place overnight, with the road remaining closed until work is complete. Drivers should brace for disruption well into the night.
Traffic Diverted – Expect Delays
- Traffic is now being rerouted via the feeder road from Junction 6 to Junction 5.
- Follow the hollow square sign for the diversion route.
- Significant delays are expected approaching the closure.
- Allow extra journey time on all diversion routes.
