Massive Blaze Tears Through 20 Hectares Near M25

A sprawling fire ripped through around six hectares of grass and shrubland within a 20-hectare area, sending thick smoke over homes and the busy M25 motorway. Thankfully, no injuries have been reported so far.

Emergency Services Flooded With Calls

London Fire Brigade’s 999 Control Officers were slammed with over 20 calls about the blaze. Firefighters from Holloway, Enfield, Chingford, Stratford, Ilford, and nearby stations rushed to the scene.

“The fire generated smoke and ash, blowing towards nearby properties and across the M25 between junctions 25 and 26,” said a Brigade spokesperson.

“We urged residents to keep windows and doors shut while crews tackled the flames.”

Firefighters Battle Blaze for Over Three Hours

The fire started just after 3pm and crews brought it under control by 6.25pm. The cause is still under investigation.

Fire Brigade Issues Urgent Safety Warning

With a scorching summer underway, the Brigade warned:

  • “Please be extra cautious to prevent fires on open land.”
  • Dispose of rubbish carefully, especially glass.
  • Always extinguish cigarettes properly.
  • Avoid barbecuing in parks and public spaces after prolonged dry spells.”

Residents near the M25 junctions 25 and 26 are urged to stay alert and follow safety advice to avoid repeat chaos.
