Power Cut Chaos Hits Kent: 2,500 Homes in Darkness
Thousands of homes across Kent have been plunged into darkness tonight. Over 2,500 properties in 20 postcodes lost power shortly after 6pm on Friday.
Heating and Lights Out Until Late
Residents faced freezing temperatures and pitch-black rooms as electricity supplier UK Power confirmed the outage. They warned power could be off until at least 9.30pm.
“We’re sorry for any disruption this may be causing you,” UK Power said. They estimate power restoration by 9.30pm.
Faulty Underground Cable Behind Blackout
The blackout was caused by a fault in an underground high-voltage cable. This has triggered a widespread outage across the area, leaving thousands in the dark and cold.
