Three trapped in mud off Hayling Island winched to safety by helicopter
Three people were dramatically rescued by helicopter after getting stuck in thick mud near Hayling Island, Hampshire, on Tuesday night.

Emergency services rushed to Marine Walk at around 8:30pm on April 15 after reports of individuals trapped in mud along the coast. Coastguard teams, firefighters, ambulance crews, and specialist units from the 123 hailed the rescue as a prime example of teamwork. They said:
“This rescue demonstrates the critical importance of inter-agency teamwork. Every emergency asset played a vital role in bringing this incident to a safe conclusion.”
Crews also thanked local residents on Marine Walk for allowing emergency vehicles to use their driveways, aiding the smooth rescue effort.
