Tragedy on the Thames: The body of a missing girl has been pulled from the River Thames near Gravesend, Kent Police confirmed today.
Major Search Follows River Incident
The grim discovery comes after a frantic search launched when two children entered the river near Royal Pier Road at around 1:46pm on Friday, 30 May. Emergency crews from multiple agencies rushed to the scene.
A young boy was rescued and is now stable in hospital. Sadly, the girl remained missing overnight.
Body Found in Second-Day Search
Search efforts resumed bright and early Saturday, with Kent Police’s Marine Unit, H.M. Coastguard, and RNLI working together. At about 11:40am, the girl’s body was recovered from the water near Gravesend with the RNLI’s help.
Kent Police have confirmed the girl’s next of kin have been informed and formal identification has been completed.
No Suspicion Over Death
Officers say the death is not being treated as suspicious. A report is being prepared for the coroner.
