Tribute to Cookham Dad Killed in Tragic M4 Crash
The family of Edmond “Eddy” Lee have paid a heartfelt tribute after the beloved Cookham man died following a road traffic collision on the M4 on 5 July 2018.
Beloved Husband, Dad, and Friend
Eddy was much more than a husband and father to his two-year-old son. He was a son, brother, uncle, brother-in-law, colleague, sports team member, and a dear friend to many.
Last Moments by the River
Just the night before the crash, Eddy finished his favourite weekly time trial on the river with Longridge Canoe Club. His family and friends watched from paddle boards at a sandy spot along the river bank. Meanwhile, their little boy built sandcastles before they enjoyed a picnic dinner together—their special family place.
Tragic Loss and Ongoing Support
Only twelve hours later, Eddy suffered catastrophic injuries in the crash and tragically passed away. His family praised the medical and police teams for their exceptional support and their efforts to understand how this horrific accident happened.
Carrying Eddy’s Spirit Forward
“For us as a broken family, I will seek to raise our two-year-old son to be as fun, thoughtful and kind as his father,” said Eddy’s wife. “We lived on the river and loved the river. Though the pain is unbearable now, we’ll continue to cherish the incredible summer we had together, keeping Eddy’s memory alive.”
