Airport Security Agent Axed After Shocking Rough Handling of Bomb-Sniffing Dog at Detroit Airport
Viral Video Shows Handler Dragging Working Dog
An airport security agent at Detroit Metropolitan Airport (DTW) has been taken off dog-handling duties after a disturbing video surfaced online. The clip shows the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) employee roughly dragging a bomb-sniffing dog back and forth across the terminal.
The footage, originally posted on Reddit on Sunday, sparked outrage. The video has since been removed but not before it went viral on social media.
Witness Speaks Out: “Shocked at the Rough Treatment”
One viewer slammed the handler’s behaviour, saying, “I was shocked at how this airport handler is dragging this poor pup around. Why should anyone be flipping a working dog around by its harness like this?” They added, “I have a high-energy dog, so I first thought it was just a mistake or the pup was overly energetic, but it looks like the handler was needlessly rough with it.”
TSA Responds: Employee Removed, Dog Given Vet Check
TSA officials confirmed the incident to The Independent, calling the handler’s conduct “unacceptable.” They said the video was shared with airport leaders first thing Monday morning.
TSA statement: “This handler’s behaviour does not meet the high standards we expect of our officers.”
The agency revealed the employee has been removed from dog-handling duties while an investigation is underway. Meanwhile, the canine sniffing out explosives has been sent for an immediate veterinary wellness exam.
