Tragic Crash on A27 Near Chichester Kills Two, Injures Four
Two women died and four others were hurt in a horror two-car smash on the A27 near Chichester on Thursday night.
Fatal Collision Near Fishbourne Roundabout
The smash happened just after 10.10pm on 27 February, west of the Fishbourne roundabout. Emergency crews from Sussex and Hampshire rushed to the scene, including an air ambulance.
A white Ford Focus and a purple Renault Zoe left the road and crashed into trees along the eastbound side of the carriageway.
Two Women Dead at the Scene
The victims were two elderly women in the Renault Zoe — an 80-year-old and a 75-year-old, both from Chichester. They sadly died at the scene.
The Focus driver, a 27-year-old man from Emsworth, was rushed to southampton/" title="Southampton" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">Southampton Hospital with potentially life-threatening head injuries.
Other Zoe passengers suffered minor injuries and were taken to Portsmouth Hospital.
Road Closure and Police Appeal
The eastbound carriageway stayed shut until 8am Friday while crash recovery and investigation took place.
