Blaze Erupts Near Birchington – Firefighters Race to Tackle Spreading Field Fire
The Kent Fire and Rescue Service rushed to a blaze tearing through grassland and scrub near St Nicholas At Wade in Birchington. Two fire engines and an all-terrain vehicle were on scene to battle the flames.
Bonfire Sparks Grass Fire
Firefighters quickly tackled the fire using flexi-packs and beaters. The blaze started after a nearby bonfire accidentally spread, igniting dry vegetation.
Fire Crews Urge Caution This Season
Crews warn the public to handle bonfires responsibly to avoid more field fires. Their tips:
- Keep bonfires small and away from grass and property
- Always supervise burning
- Never light a bonfire during hot or windy weather
