A brutal head-on crash between a car and a works van has triggered a rush-hour nightmare on the A281, leaving a woman seriously hurt and stuck in her wrecked vehicle.

Collision Sparks Chaos on Busy A281

The smash happened just after 5.30pm at the junction of Station Road in Bramley, near Guildford. Emergency services raced to the scene where two fire crews from Surrey Fire and Rescue battled to free the trapped woman from the crumpled car.

Road Completely Shut, Traffic at a Standstill

The A281 was closed both ways, grinding evening traffic to a halt. Local buses and scores of commuters were caught up in the gridlock, with tailbacks stretching for miles.

Motorists are being warned to avoid the area while emergency teams continue their work.
