Tyler’s Rare Genetic Fight: Only 3 Cases Worldwide
Meet Tyler Thompson, a brave young boy battling one of the rarest genetic conditions on Earth. Tyler has Ring 14 with Deletions, a chromosome syndrome with just 3 reported cases worldwide. This cruel condition affects his mobility, learning, and causes seizures. Despite the challenges, Tyler can speak around 40 words, uses sign language, and understands simple sentences. Nothing stops him from wanting to make friends and play.
New Battle: Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia Diagnosis
On June 2, 2021, tragedy struck again. Tyler was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia (ALL), and worse, he’s in the high-risk category. This means more aggressive treatment is needed.
Fighting Through Chemotherapy and Hospital Stays
Tyler has undergone multiple blood transfusions and had a central line inserted directly to his heart. He’s in the gruelling induction phase of chemotherapy, steroids, and ongoing antibiotics to fight off infections due to his weakened immune system.
He also faces weekly bone marrow biopsies and lumbar punctures. Five weeks in hospital with no end in sight hasn’t broken his spirit—Tyler still manages to smile most days despite everything.
How You Can Help Tyler’s Fight
Tyler’s family says they’re absolutely devastated but desperately trying to stay positive and strong for him. They urgently need funds for a specialist wheelchair, home adaptations, and a specially trained therapy dog.
There’s also a promise to Tyler for a dream trip to Liverpool FC to meet his football heroes. “He truly deserves the best possible future,” the family insists.
Tyler’s little sister Cleo, or “KiKi” as he calls her, can’t wait to have him home playing again. Everyone who meets Tyler falls in love with him—this little warrior still has so much to say and achieve.
