Hero PCSO Rescues Woman Left Injured for Five Days
An Ashford pensioner, in her 70s, was found seriously injured after lying in her bathroom for five days – all thanks to quick action by local officers.
Neighbours Raise Alarm Over Forgotten Elderly Woman
On Friday afternoon, 22 April 2022, a worried neighbour called police after spotting piles of post and newspapers choking the front door and not seeing the woman for days.
The Problem-Solving Task Force sprang into action, fearing the worst. PCSO Joseph Cain smashed entry and immediately provided first aid. PCSOs Lauren Butcher and Paul Wooster arranged urgent medical help and followed up with important checks.
Fast Response Saves Life
Less than 20 minutes passed between the initial call and the moment officers found the woman injured but alive. She was rushed to a local hospital where she is now recovering.
Sergeant Ben Crook praised the team’s quick thinking:
“The quick-thinking actions of our officers has meant a woman in urgent need of care and support has got the help she needs, and I commend them for their efforts. It’s really pleasing to hear her condition is improving.”
Ongoing Support Planned
Partner agencies will ensure the woman receives all the care she needs going forward, giving this Ashford senior a much-needed fresh start.
