Urgent Hunt Underway for Missing 23-Year-Old Jenny in County Durham
The Disappearance
Emergency services are in full swing searching for Jenny, a 23-year-old woman from Tow Law, County Durham. She vanished Tuesday afternoon (February 18, 2025) after leaving her Barracks Farm home around 3 PM in her red Ford Focus. When Jenny didn’t return or make contact, her family reported her missing at 9 PM, sparking alarm and a large-scale search.
Police suspect Jenny was heading towards the Barnard Castle area, about 15 miles away. Search teams are scouring the remote moorlands between Eggleston and Stanhope, where heavy snow and thick fog make the hunt treacherous.
Who Is Jenny?
- White female, 6 feet tall
- Very long dark hair
- Wearing a blue John Deere hoodie and dark jogging bottoms when last seen
Massive Search Effort
The hunt entered its second day with multiple agencies involved, including:
- Durham Constabulary
- Swaledale Mountain Rescue
- Kirkby Stephen, Cleveland, North of Tyne, and Northumberland National Park Mountain Rescue Teams
- Coastguard helicopter aerial support
- Sniffer dogs on the ground
The Teesdale and Weardale Search and Mountain Rescue Team had to pause overnight on February 19 due to dangerous weather but pressed on at dawn despite worsening conditions.
“Officers are increasingly worried about Jenny’s wellbeing. If you have seen her or have any info, call 999 immediately,” said a Durham Constabulary spokesman.
Community on Edge
Social media has lit up with pleas to share Jenny’s description and watch local areas closely. Police have urged residents not to join the search directly, fearing interference. The Barnard Castle Neighbourhood Police Team said:
“We appreciate the community’s concern and offers to help. However, please let professionals do their job. Locals should check sheds, garages, and outbuildings for Jenny safely.”
Harsh Weather Complicates Rescue
Sub-zero temps, dense fog, and heavy snow make conditions brutal on the moors. North Yorkshire weather updates warn that exposure to these elements could be deadly without shelter. Time is running out for Jenny.
How You Can Help
- If you saw Jenny or her red Ford Focus on February 18, contact Durham Constabulary immediately on 999.
- Locals urged to search their own sheds and outbuildings for shelter spots.
- Share Jenny’s details on social media to spread the word far and wide.
The community and search teams remain hopeful Jenny will be found safe and sound. The race against nature continues.
