Early Morning Blaze Shocks Worthing Residents
Loud Bang Sparks Panic
Residents in Manor Road, Worthing, were jolted awake at 2am by a deafening bang. A parked car suddenly burst into flames, turning the quiet street into chaos.
One local told Sussex News, “I was asleep and it sounded like a bomb had gone off. I grabbed the phone and called 999 immediately.”
Firefighters Rush to the Scene
West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service quickly responded, dispatching a fire engine from Worthing. The blaze was fierce, with one car fully engulfed in flames.
Firefighters, equipped with breathing apparatus and two hose reels, battled the fire to stop it from spreading.
Damage and Cause Uncertain
The fire also damaged a neighbouring vehicle. Authorities have not yet determined what started the fire.
A West Sussex Fire and Rescue spokesperson said: “At around 2am, we responded to a vehicle fire at Manor Road, Worthing. Upon arrival, one car was well alight. Our crews worked quickly to extinguish the blaze. The cause of the fire is unknown.”
