Meet Zack Polanski: the Green Party leader stirring up British politics like no other. He wants to legalise every drug under the sun, banish right-wingers from society, and once claimed he could boost women’s breast size with hypnosis. And now, he’s sparked fresh outrage by asking if right-wingers should be excluded from the country he hopes to build.
Polanski’s Podcast Bombshell: Ban the Right-Wing?
On his own Bold Politics podcast, Polanski grilled guest Zakia Sewell about uniting a divided nation. His solution? Kick out right-wing and far-right supporters altogether.
“There are people who would identify as right-wing, or indeed even far-right,” Polanski said. “No matter what humanity or community we put them in, they are set on destroying or pushing this toxicity. Do we think we can change their minds? Or is it a case of building a society that doesn’t include them?”
Sewell pushed back, warning Polanski not to alienate moderates. The fallout was immediate. Tory chairman Kevin Hollinrake slammed the comments as “authoritarian,” likening Polanski’s ideas to the oppressive regimes of Soviet Russia, Mao’s China, and Castro’s Cuba.
“This is the opening line of every authoritarian playbook,” Hollinrake said.
Reform UK branded Polanski’s stance as a “mask slip,” accusing him of wanting to exclude anyone politically right of centre. “That’s not politics, that’s authoritarianism,” their spokesman said.
Controversy Clouds the Greens
Polanski’s divisive remarks come as the Green Party faces fresh headaches. Several local candidates recently faced accusations of anti-Semitic hate speech, hitting a nerve with voters and the media alike. He also took aim at the established “predominant narrative” around Winston Churchill, calling the war hero “deeply problematic.”
Legalise Everything and Abolish Prisons?
Polanski’s political vision is wild and far-reaching. Ahead of the Greens’ conference, he openly backed full drug legalisation — including hard drugs like heroin and crack — calling the war on drugs a “failure” and pushing for a public health approach instead.
- Full legalisation and regulation of all drugs to end criminal networks
- Calls from within the Greens to abolish prisons entirely
- Support for legalising prostitution
Critics warn this platform is unlike anything any other UK party dares to propose.
The Hypnosis Scandal: Polanski’s Strange Past
Before the political drama, Polanski ran a hypnotherapy clinic on prestigious Harley Street. He reportedly charged women £222 for 90-minute sessions supposedly designed to enlarge breasts through hypnosis. When news resurfaced, Polanski denied the claims at first, calling it an experiment. But he later admitted it, apologised, and insisted it didn’t reflect who he is today. “This was 11 years ago,” he said. “I wasn’t involved in politics at all.” He’s had a varied career, working as a barman, nightclub doorman, actor before finally diving into politics.
A Radical Figure for the UK Left — or a Warning Sign?
Supporters hail Polanski as a fearless radical willing to challenge the status quo. Critics see a man ready to sideline anyone who disagrees instead of persuading them. One thing’s for sure: British politics has never seen a figure quite like Zack Polanski.
