Emergency Rescue: Roof Cut Off to Free Trapped Driver
Fire crews from Fareham and Southsea rushed to the scene, using specialist cutting gear to rip the roof off one car. They freed a trapped driver whose injury details remain unclear. Thankfully, two dogs travelling in that vehicle escaped unscathed.
Traffic Chaos as Road Remains Closed
Police sealed off Newgate Lane at Speedfield Park, forcing frustrated drivers to U-turn and find alternative routes. Tailbacks stretched from Gosport all the way to the Stubbington roundabout, with traffic at a virtual standstill.
Road Reopens But Delays Expected
A Hampshire Police spokesperson confirmed: “Officers were called at 10:37am following reports of the collision near HMS Collingwood.” The road reopened shortly after midday, but long queues were expected to continue as recovery work wrapped up.
