Five Dead After Wrong-Way Crash on M6 Near Tebay

A 33-year-old woman identified as Jade McEnroe was among five people who tragically lost their lives in a horrific M6 crash involving a car driving the wrong way. The smash near Tebay services in Cumbria happened shortly after 4pm and also claimed the lives of a 42-year-old man and three children aged 7 and 15.

The horror unfolded when a Skoda, travelling southbound on the northbound carriageway, slammed head-on into a Toyota carrying the victims. The 40-year-old Skoda driver from Cambridgeshire also died at the scene.

Child Survives But Remains Critical

One seven-year-old child inside the Toyota survived the accident but remains in serious condition in hospital. The terrifying crash saw flames and thick black smoke erupt moments after impact, eyewitnesses report.

Heartfelt Tributes Pour In, Fundraiser Launched

Friends and family have flooded social media with emotional tributes for Jade McEnroe, calling her a “lovely girl” who will be “missed so much.” A GoFundMe page has raised over £3,600 to support the grieving family.

“Can’t believe this news, you’ll be missed so much homie. In so much shock. Rest in peace, Jade,” said relative Hayley McEnroe.

Police Urge Witnesses to Come Forward

Cumbria Police confirmed investigations are ongoing. Digital motorway signs had warned drivers of an “oncoming vehicle” before the smash.

Officers are urging anyone with dashcam footage or information to contact them quoting incident number 146 of October 15, or call 101.

Specialist officers are supporting victims’ families, with official identification expected to take several more days due to the severity of the collision.

The community remains shocked as emergency services, including four fire engines and air ambulances, scrambled to the deadly crash scene.
