Tragedy Strikes Romford Gym: Member Dies After Medical Emergency

The YMCA Thames Gateway Group has confirmed a tragic death at its Romford gym on Rush Green Road. The facility was forced to shut down temporarily on Thursday morning, May 2, following a “medical emergency” involving a gym member.

Heart-Stopping Efforts Couldn’t Save Member

Despite desperate CPR efforts from fellow gym-goers, staff, and nearby residents, and a swift response by emergency services, the individual sadly passed away at the scene.

“Our heartfelt condolences go out to the member’s family, friends, and loved ones during this incredibly difficult time. Out of respect for their privacy, we will not release further details at this stage,” a YMCA spokesperson said.

Gym Set to Reopen After Brief Closure

Earlier on Thursday, YMCA Thames Gateway Group announced the gym would reopen at 5:30am on Friday, May 3. Classes and other services continued during the temporary shutdown.

Authorities Still Probing Incident

The London Ambulance Service and YMCA officials have been contacted for further comment as investigations continue.
