EastEnders Hot Newbie Joel Marshall Shakes Up Albert Square
EastEnders has welcomed Max Murray as Joel Marshall, son of Ross Marshall, who’s dating the returning Vicki Fowler—back on our screens after a massive 21 years. Vicki’s comeback, now played by Alice Haig, follows the shock death of Martin Fowler in the soap’s explosive 40th anniversary live episode.
Meet Max Murray: Acting Royalty Joins the Square
Fans might not know it yet, but Max Murray comes from serious acting pedigree. He’s the son of Gina Murray, a veteran actress and singer with a solid TV and stage career. Gina’s credits include popular shows like:
- Doctors
- Witless
- The Hunt for Raoul Moat
On stage, Gina’s dazzled audiences in musicals such as:
- Mamma Mia!
- Chicago
- Hairspray
Fun fact: Gina even had a role on EastEnders back in 2014, playing Helen, the specialist who supported Carol Jackson during her cancer battle.
“It’s an absolute privilege and honour to be joining such a wonderful production full of a lovely cast and crew. I’m really looking forward to introducing Joel to EastEnders viewers and telling his story,” Max said.

Max isn’t the only star kid on the block. Alice Haig, the new face of Vicki Fowler, is daughter of acclaimed actor and playwright David Haig. David’s famed for roles in:
