UK’s Most Wanted Drug Dealer Michael Moogan Locked Up After Dubai Sting

NCA Snaps Up Cocaine Kingpin

The National Crime Agency (NCA) has finally caught Michael Paul Moogan, one of Britain’s most wanted criminals. The 37-year-old from Croxteth was the mastermind behind a massive cocaine smuggling ring that pumped hundreds of kilos of Class A drugs into the UK every month.

Global Web of Crime Unravelled

Moogan and two other Brits were linked to a key venue where the drug conspiracy was run. Unlike typical dealers who pay in instalments, Moogan’s operation used lump sum payments via Iraqi contacts based in Belgium and abroad to move the cocaine.

Dubai Arrest and Extradition

Moogan stayed hidden for years until April 2021, when Dubai police arrested him. He was caught carrying fake ID bearing the name Michael Dier but his photo. Following a joint operation under the NCA’s Operation Captura—a global manhunt for dangerous fugitives—Moogan became the 86th person caught.

“Fugitives should take note of this case – they can never rest easy. The NCA has a global reach and will never give up hunting them,” the agency said.

Quick Justice at Manchester Crown Court

Once extradited to the UK, Moogan declared, “You’re not going to have any trouble from me. I’m tired now. Get me up to Manny and get me in Cat A. I’m done now.”

He appeared at Manchester Crown Court last November and pleaded guilty to conspiring to import Class A drugs. He was sentenced today, avoiding a possible 20-year term thanks to his guilty plea and mitigation.

Moogan was then hauled off to police custody in Greater Manchester, where he now begins a lengthy stint behind bars.
