In response to recent acts of sabotage and disruption at Brighton and Hove Cityclean, council leader Bella Sankey has issued a strong warning to those responsible, declaring, “We will not be held to ransom.”
The council’s Hollingdean depot has been at the centre of attention after discovering that bin lorries were deliberately vandalised. CCTV footage from the depot is currently under scrutiny, revealing that the wires on two lorries were intentionally cut, rendering the vehicles inoperable and preventing them from carrying out their collection rounds.
Images of the damaged lorries depict deliberate and willful destruction, exacerbating the ongoing disruptions to Cityclean services. These disruptions have led to a significant increase in missed refuse and recycling collections across the city.
