37-Year-Old Irish Mum Shot in Millner
A terrifying shooting in Millner, a quiet suburb of Darwin, has left a 38-year-old Irish woman fighting for her life. Eileen Gibbons, originally from Castlebar, Co Mayo, was shot in the abdomen at a local home on Tuesday evening.
The mother-of-one was rushed to Royal Darwin Hospital after paramedics stabilised her at the scene. Thankfully, doctors now say she is stable and conscious, but her condition remains critical.
Man Dead at Scene, Firearm Seized
The grim incident unfolded around 6:30pm local time, ending with the death of a 35-year-old man who was found dead at the house. Police have recovered a firearm and launched a major investigation.
Police Probe Links Between Victims
Detectives from the Northern Territory Police say the victims knew each other. Senior Sergeant Paul Morrissey confirmed multiple units attended and the Major Crime Squad is leading the probe.
“Multiple units attended the scene. We are investigating all circumstances surrounding this tragic event,”
Morrissey said.
