Manchester Munich Memorial Foundation Donates £12K to Francis House Hospice
Busby Babes’ Legacy Fuels Generosity
The Manchester Munich Memorial Foundation (MMMF) has handed over a generous £12,000 to Francis House Children’s Hospice in Didsbury. This heartwarming donation stems from MMMF’s committed fundraising efforts, including a star-studded Gala Dinner that saw over 400 Manchester United fans and committee members come together.
Helping Families in Crisis
The cash boost will support Francis House’s vital work, providing care and respite for families with children facing life-limiting and life-threatening conditions. During a recent visit, MMMF reps Ifty Ahmed and Anthony Crook toured the hospice’s facilities, highlighting how the funds will enhance services such as homecare, day care, emotional support, and the hospice’s famous multi-sensory rooms for kids.
MMMF Chairman Pledges Ongoing Support
“It is our pleasure and honour to support Francis House, and we will continue to do so for many years in the future,” said MMMF Chairman Ifty Ahmed. “Transparency is key, and we ensure our guests know proceeds help charities like Francis House.”
More Than a Memorial
Beyond fundraising, MMMF organises the annual Munich Air Disaster memorial in Germany and supports disadvantaged youth in Belgrade, Manchester, and Munich. Part of the funds even send young people to the Trudering-Riem memorial anniversary, keeping the Busby Babes’ memory alive.
David Ireland, CEO of Francis House, paid tribute to the partnership: “For them, this is life-changing. Long may this association continue, and thanks so much to everyone involved.”
With operating costs hitting £4.8 million yearly, Francis House relies heavily on donations. MMMF’s latest contribution proves the power of community spirit and ensures the Busby Babes’ legacy keeps making a difference.
