London on Alert as Police Ramp Up Patrols Over Gaza Conflict Celebrations
Police Crackdown After Pro-Hamas Celebrations Rock Capital
The Metropolitan Police have launched increased patrols across London following reports of people celebrating Hamas’ recent attack on Israel. Several incidents, some uploaded to social media, have raised alarm amid the simmering Israel-Gaza conflict.
With tensions running high, the Met warned Londoners to remain vigilant. “If anyone feels unsafe, please report it to the police,” the force urged, stressing the rise in threatening behaviour linked to the ongoing crisis.
Protests Loom as Met Prepares Policing Plan
As protests are expected in the coming days, police promised a firm but balanced approach. An “appropriate policing plan” will be put in place to protect protest rights while minimising disruption for ordinary Londoners.
Political Pressure Mounts: Immigration Minister Calls for Action
Immigration Minister Robert Jenrick pushed the Met to act after Countdown’s Rachel Riley posted videos showing pro-Palestinian flag-waving and celebrations in West London. Riley warned, “Make no mistake, this is a dangerous and terrifying time for all Jews around the world.”
Further clips from Acton showed crowds honking and cheering with Palestinian flags. Riley warned the situation is “serious” and urged those scared to contact the police immediately.
Jenrick echoed her warnings on social media, condemning those “glorifying Hamas” and praising the Metropolitan Police’s commitment to tackling the issue head-on.
