Cleo Smith Found Alive After Dramatic Police Rescue
Western Australia Police staged a daring rescue in Carnarvon early Wednesday, storming a locked house at around 1am to find little Cleo Smith safe and sound. A local man is now in custody.
Heroic Police Save Cleo in Early Morning Raid
Deputy Commissioner Col Blanch announced the incredible news: “It’s my privilege to announce that in the early hours of this morning, the Western Australia police force rescued Cleo Smith. Cleo is alive and well.”
Blanch revealed how the terrified girl identified herself when an officer cradled her and asked, “What’s your name?” Cleo simply said, “My name is Cleo.”
Relief as Community Praises Police Efforts
One officer took to Twitter to share the joyous news: “What wonderful, relieving news. Cleo Smith has been found and is home safe and sound. Our prayers answered.”
Massive Search Effort Finally Pays Off
Cleo vanished on October 16 while holidaying with her family at Blowholes campsite in Macleod, about 900km north of Perth. Police launched a massive hunt, scouring two trucks full of rubbish from roadside bins stretching from Minilya to Geraldton.
More than 50 cubic metres of rubbish was transported to Perth, where forensics teams and officers spent two days combing through hundreds of bags for any clues.
$1 Million Reward Helped Crack the Case
The Western Australian Government had put up a $1 million reward for any information leading to Cleo’s rescue or arrest of suspects. The huge effort has now come to a triumphant end.
