British Man Found Dead at Spanish Marina – Mystery Deepens

Body Discovered at Duquesa Port

Spanish authorities launched an investigation after a British man’s body was found floating in the waters of Duquesa Port near Estepona early Sunday morning. The man, believed to be around 60, was discovered fully clothed between boats at the busy marina around 4:30 a.m.

Emergency services including police, Civil Guard officers, and firefighters responded swiftly but could do nothing to save him. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigation Underway – Accident or Foul Play?

The Civil Guard is probing the circumstances surrounding the man’s death. Initial reports suggest no obvious injuries or signs of foul play. A post-mortem has been scheduled to determine the cause of death.

A spokesperson confirmed: “I can confirm the dead man is British. The death is still being investigated, but at this stage, everything is pointing to it being an accident.”

Local news outlet Manilva.ws reported unconfirmed claims of shots fired in the area before the body was found. However, officials have dismissed these claims, saying no gunfire was reported and no connection exists between such reports and the death.

Tragic Mystery at Popular Marina

It’s unclear whether the man owned a boat at Duquesa Port or was simply visiting. The marina, located between Sotogrande and Estepona, is famed for its lively bars, restaurants, and as a hotspot for British tourists.

A regional emergency spokesperson said: “The emergency services have recovered the lifeless body of a man found in the water at La Duquesa port. The alarm was raised just before 4:30 a.m. on Sunday.”

Second British Death in Spanish Waters This Year

This grim discovery marks the second recent case of a British national found dead in Spanish waters. In January, a 53-year-old British man was found floating in a marina in Calpe, near Benidorm, believed to have accidentally fallen from his boat.

Community Left Shocked

Locals and tourists alike are stunned by the tragedy in what is usually a peaceful area. La Duquesa port is a popular international destination, also close to world-renowned golf courses.

Investigators continue piecing together the man’s final moments. Anyone with information is urged to come forward.
