On Wednesday (4/11), officers raided a Reading home and found loud music booming and a large group of intoxicated guests crammed inside. The party was swiftly shut down.

Chief Superintendent Slams Rule Breakers

“Cases of coronavirus are once again increasing and with that, the risk to lives,” said Chief Superintendent Rob France, Thames Valley Police’s Gold Commander for the COVID response.

“We’d rather not issue fines, but this was a blatant disregard for the rules that put the Reading community at risk.

“Breaches like this not only endanger health but drain police resources that should be helping people in urgent need.

“We’ll keep engaging with communities, but where rules are flagrantly ignored, fines—and even arrests—will follow.

“Most people in Thames Valley are doing the right thing and we thank them for their sacrifices to keep us safe.

“We remain committed to working with partners, businesses and the public to stop this deadly virus spreading.”
