Chinese Warships and Jets Stir Tensions Around Taiwan
Three Chinese warships prowled waters around Taiwan, while a fighter jet and anti-submarine helicopter crossed into Taiwan’s air defence zone. Beijing warned it will take “firm and forceful measures” to protect its sovereignty and territorial claims.

Sanctions and Blacklists Ramp Up Pressure
Beijing isn’t just flexing with military moves. It has slapped tighter sanctions on Taiwan’s US envoy Hsiao Bi-khim, her family, and businesses linked to her. Plus, it blacklisted the Hudson Institute and Ronald Reagan Library, accusing them of promoting “Taiwan independence” through Taiwanese President Tsai Ing-wen.
Tensions Show No Sign of Easing
Tsai, president since 2016, insists Taiwan’s future should be decided by its people. But China keeps the threat of force on the table. The US and other global powers are watching closely as the simmering crisis refuses to cool.
