Two former police officers joined a heroic convoy to deliver vital supplies to Ukraine just before Christmas last year.
Ex-cops Roll Into Ukraine with Lifesaving Gear
Simon Blincow and Rob Taylor hit the road in a convoy packed with pick-up trucks, ambulances, and crucial electricity generators. Alongside these, they carried clothing, toys, and other essentials destined for frontline areas of eastern Ukraine.
The generators will soon power efforts in conflict zones and have been warmly welcomed by Ukrainian forces.
Heartfelt Thanks from the Frontline
“In a few days we will go to the east and give this generator to our soldiers over there. Thank you for your help. Together we will win. Slava Ukraini (Glory to Ukraine).”
Simon, once a sergeant in the roads policing unit, said: “Receiving messages like this makes everything we do worthwhile. The situation in eastern Ukraine is devastating, and seeing such destruction is heartbreaking.
“We wanted to use our police experience to help in any way we could.”
Bringing Warmth and Joy to Displaced Children
Simon and Rob also visited the Ridni children’s home in Lviv, western Ukraine. They handed over 80 winter coats, paints, cuddly toys, sketchbooks, and Lego to children displaced by the war.
The vehicles remained in Ukraine, heading further east and south to support ongoing humanitarian efforts.
Community Support Fuels the Mission
This trip marked Simon’s fourth visit to Ukraine, previously travelling with former officer Martin Foster to deliver supplies far and wide. All three plan to return for future missions.
The Nottinghamshire Police community has rallied, donating hundreds of items collected at local pick-up points. A Nottinghamshire resident also donated a generator after reading about the mission – choosing to stay anonymous.
