Gosport MP Cheers on Apprenticeship Boom in National Week Launch
Gosport’s own Caroline Dinenage has lauded the Government’s fresh push on apprenticeships as National Apprenticeship Week 2016 kicks off. With thousands signing up locally, it’s clear the Government’s manifesto promises are turning into jobs.
Apprenticeships: The New Pathway for Youth
The big message this year? “An Apprenticeship can take you anywhere.” More young folks in Gosport are skipping university, opting instead for hands-on training and real work experience.
“Apprenticeships make sense for young people across Gosport,” Caroline said. “Since May 2010, 11,490 local apprentices have started, contributing to the 2.6 million nationwide.”
Government’s Massive Skills Push
Caroline praised the plan to create 3 million apprenticeships by 2020. She congratulated local colleges and businesses snapping up apprentices. The message: Learn on the job while earning a wage.
“We’ve already seen 348,300 new apprenticeships in the South East since 2010,” she added. “The Government’s raising the bar, introducing top-quality routes into the professions.”
New Watchdog to Guard Apprenticeship Quality
The Government is launching the Institute for Apprenticeships, an independent, employer-led body set to oversee standards.
- It will approve only high-quality apprenticeships valued by businesses.
- Sets new standards and assessment plans to boost trust and training.
Caroline’s message is clear: apprenticeships aren’t just good for business—they’re the launchpad for young people’s futures in Gosport and beyond.
