Gosport MP Champions Apprentices at Britten Norman Hangar Launch
Gosport MP Caroline Dinenage joined local apprentices yesterday to celebrate the opening of Britten Norman’s brand-new hangar at the Daedalus site.
Since being elected, Caroline has been a fierce supporter of local apprenticeship providers like HMS Sultan, CETC, and CEMAST, which lead the way in cutting-edge STEM education and top-quality technical training.
Apprentices Celebrate 4 Years of Hard Work
At the event, Caroline handed out certificates to this year’s apprentices—Abby, Sam, and Ed—who successfully completed their four-year courses at Britten Norman.
She said, “I was honoured to present this year’s fantastic apprentices with their certificates, knowing they have finished their programme and secured jobs with Britten Norman.”
“Britten Norman’s apprenticeship scheme is vital for maintaining key industrial skills in our local area. Since 2010, it has invested over £23 million into the Gosport peninsula.”
Britten Norman: Britain’s Last Sovereign Aircraft Maker
Britten Norman stands as the UK’s only remaining sovereign commercial aircraft manufacturer. This 65-year-old SME consistently delivers in the defence sector, producing planes used by the Ministry of Defence on ISTAR missions in Afghanistan, Iraq, and Bosnia.
William Hynett, CEO of Britten Norman, added:
“Britten Norman helped transform Solent Airfield from a government operation into a buzzing civilian hub full of innovative SMEs.
“Our new hangar will be at the heart of aircraft maintenance and manufacturing, boosting Britain’s aerospace sector.”
“Our apprenticeship scheme, running for over 15 years, invests in future generations. It’s been a joy to watch our latest class grow, and I’m thrilled to welcome them officially into the Britten Norman family.”
