Emergency Crews Battle to Rescue Victims
Rescue teams from Ryde and Newport fire stations rushed to the scene just before midday. Using cutting gear, they freed several trapped passengers from the wrecked Renault and Vauxhall, both of which had careened off the highway.
Isle of Wight Ambulance Service deployed multiple ambulances, while the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance swooped in to airlift the seriously injured driver to hospital. A woman from the other car was also taken to St Mary’s Hospital in Newport.
