Portsmouth’s Rural and Seaside Show Set to Smash It This Bank Holiday!
Get ready, Portsmouth! The beloved Rural and Seaside Show is back – bigger, better, and bursting with seaside fun. From Saturday 30 April to Monday 2 May, Castle Field will host the free family-friendly bash that’s become a bank holiday favourite. Now in its fourth year, this lively event promises something for everyone, rain or shine!
Family Fun from Dawn Till Dusk
Between 10am and 5pm each day, expect a packed programme of crowd-pleasers. Watch spectacular heavy horse displays, hop on donkey rides, marvel at sheep grazing and sheepdog demos, and admire classic cars. Kids will love Punch and Judy shows, welly throwing contests, ferret racing, and archery tasters.
New Attractions Steal the Spotlight
This year, canine fans have a treat with the brand-new Canine Corner. Dog shows will run all weekend, featuring thrilling dog agility courses and stalls packed with doggie delights. Plus, watch flyball demonstrations where speedy pooches race to fetch balls, or bring your own dog and enter the fun – just register on the day!
Other fresh faces include eye-popping chainsaw carving speed demos and a family-friendly treasure hunt set to test your wits.
Tasty Treats, Market Stalls & More
Hungry? Food stalls will dish up a range of tasty bites. Shop till you drop at vibrant market stalls or let the kids enjoy classic rides in a charming countryside-by-the-seaside vibe.
The Rural and Seaside Show is a fantastic free event, which celebrates the city’s traditional seaside roots,” said Heather Todd, assistant events manager at Portsmouth City Council. “We’ve had a great response since we started running this show and I am delighted that we have so many new activities this year. People seem to love the countryside feel by the seaside.”
