South West London Man Admits Terrorism Charges at Old Bailey

Ayub Nurhussein, 29, from south west London, pleaded guilty today, Friday 13 March, to multiple terrorism offences at the Old Bailey. The admission follows a joint probe by the Met’s Counter Terrorism Command and Counter Terrorism Policing North-West.

Serious Terror Charges Spanning Years

  • On 26 July 2019, Nurhussein was charged with funding terrorism under section 17 of the Terrorism Act 2000 (TACT) and possession of documents likely to aid terrorism under section 58 of TACT 2000.
  • On 2 December 2019, three further counts were added: possession of terrorist material and dissemination of terrorist publications under TACT 2006.
  • By 13 January 2020, Nurhussein pleaded guilty to all possession and dissemination charges but initially denied funding terrorism.
  • Today, he changed his plea to guilty for the funding terrorism charge. A Newton hearing is scheduled for 19 March at the Old Bailey.

Associate Also Faces Terror Charges

Nurhussein’s associate, Said Mohammed, 30 from Longsight, Manchester, was charged alongside him on 26 July 2019 with arranging funds for terrorism and possession of terrorist material.

  • Mohammed pleaded guilty to arranging funds on 13 January 2024.
  • He denied possession of terrorist documents, but that charge was later dropped.

Third Suspect Acquitted

A third man charged with possession of terrorist materials was found not guilty in January. Sentencing for Nurhussein and Mohammed is set for Thursday 26 March at the Old Bailey.
