Police are hunting three men after a late-night robbery at the GAME store on Above Bar Street. Around 11.04pm on Monday, May 9, the trio sneaked in through the back entrance on Scullards Lane.
Once inside, they violently assaulted two staff members before smashing the safe and grabbing a haul of gaming consoles. The robbers then fled the scene in a silver saloon car—either a 56 plate Ford Mondeo or Skoda Octavia, or a similar model.
Perps Described as Hooded and Scarved White Males
Eyewitnesses report the thieves were white men dressed head-to-toe in dark clothes, with hoods up and scarves covering their faces. Staff were gearing up inside for a midnight game launch when the terrifying incident unfolded.
Police Plead for Witnesses to Step Up
Detective Constable Claire Ratcliffe said: “This incident has undoubtedly left the store staff shaken. I urge anyone with information to come forward. Were you near Above Bar or Scullards Lane around 11pm on Monday? Did you spot a silver saloon-type car with a 56 plate? Please call us on 101 quoting 44160174774.”
