Police have confirmed that Gilbert, the original Zany Zebra sculpture, has been found safe and sound. The brightly coloured fibreglass figure was spotted in a back garden in Shirley, Southampton, last night.

Gilbert’s owners, Marwell Zoo, were thrilled by the news. They’re eager to get him back in action for their upcoming public art event, Zany Zebras. The festival will see a herd of vividly painted zebras take over the streets this summer.
Mystery Surrounds Gilbert’s Disappearance
The zebra went missing overnight on Tuesday, May 10, after being stolen from a pickup truck on Burgess Road. Police are still investigating how Gilbert ended up in that Shirley garden.
