Police appeal after Sheep Attacked in Romsey

Police are appealing for information after two pet sheep were attacked by two dogs in a village near Romsey. The incident took place in fenced-off fields by a property in Plaitford, around 12.45pm on Sunday, May 22. Two dogs, described as a black Labrador and a golden Labrador, were seen to attack the two sheep. They stopped when a witness shouted at them. The Labradors were with a third dog, described as a dirty-looking West Highland White Terrier. An owner could not be seen and none of the dogs wore anything to identify them. Both sheep required medical attention from a vet. PC Claire Bates, from Romsey police station, said: “While this is a rare occurrence, the severity of the attack and the dogs’ behaviour is concerning. “We would like to appeal to the local rural community and for the dog owners to come forward.”
