Another stabbing sparks alarm in Fratton just yards from a violent hammer attack. Police sealed off roads for over seven hours this morning after a man was left fighting for his life. Now, neighbours say yet another stabbing has hit Shearer Road/Shakespeare Road.
Man Stabbed in Hand Amid Rising Violence
A man was rushed to hospital with a knife wound to his hand. Witnesses claim it was another stabbing, but police are trying to play it down. They confirmed a call came in just after 7.30pm, saying: “A man has been stabbed in the hand but does not wish to make a complaint.”
Violence in Fratton: Mob Rule, Say Locals
The latest attack happened just three doors away from where a woman was brutally hit on the head with a hammer months ago. Locals are fed up and fear the area is becoming the new “Fratton Ghetto.”
“It’s getting worse and the Police don’t seem to be doing anything to tackle the goings on. It’s as if mob rules,” said one resident.
“I’ve reported drug dealing and crack use near the church grounds several times, but nothing gets done. The days of locking your door and feeling safe are over when this is happening on your own doorstep,” Sheila Merritt added.
“What is going on lately? Things are only getting worse on the streets. They should be putting police patrols back on the beat, not tucked away in cars and behind desks,” she said.
Calls Grow for Police to Get Tough
Residents demand visible police patrols to reclaim safety in Fratton. The community wants action now before violence spirals further out of control.
