A silver Ford Fiesta smashed into railings outside a posh block of flats in Esher, Surrey, just before midnight on Wednesday. The car ploughed into black iron fencing on Portsmouth Road near the Scilly Isles roundabout, leaving the vehicle wrecked and the railings destroyed.
Driver Escapes Serious Injury
The driver walked away without serious harm despite the heavy crash. Fire crews from Painshill and Esher rushed to the scene, joined by police and paramedics from South East Coast Ambulance.
Emergency Services Scramble to Scene
Firefighters made the scene safe and managed the damaged vehicle, while paramedics treated the driver at the roadside. Initial reports suggested the car might have rolled over before hitting the iron fencing outside the luxury flats.
Road Closure and Aftermath
Portsmouth Road was shut for hours to deal with spilled fluids and vehicle recovery. The Ford was a write-off, and the railings were left totally wrecked. One person was taken to hospital following the single-vehicle smash.
