Firefighters Rush to Luscinia View Blaze in Central Reading

Fire crews from four stations slammed into action this morning after a blaze broke out in a block of flats on Luscinia View, Reading.

Massive Police Cordon in Place

Police quickly threw up a vast cordon, sealing off the block as emergency services battled the fire. One firefighter was rushed to hospital with injuries.

Four Fire Engines Tackled Ground Floor Fire

  • Crews from Caversham Road, Wokingham Road, Dee Road, and Whitley Wood fire stations responded promptly.
  • The alarm was raised around 9:30am.
  • Firefighters entered the ground floor flat wearing breathing apparatus.
  • They isolated gas and electricity supplies to the property to prevent further danger.
  • One jet and a high-pressure hose reel were used to douse the flames in flat number 12.

Search Underway, Scene Locked Down

A thorough search of the property was conducted, though it’s unclear whether anyone else was found inside.

Thames Valley Police’s scene of crime officers have arrived to investigate the cause of the fire.
