Tragic Death of Off-Duty Thames Valley Police Officer Simon Caddy in Amersham Crash
Off-duty Thames Valley Police officer Simon Caddy, 29, has died following a collision on the A413 in Amersham last Friday (26 May). The beloved biker was involved in a crash with a car that evening, leaving family, friends, and colleagues devastated.
Police Community Loses a Dedicated Officer
Simon James Caddy joined Thames Valley Police in 2007. He started as a Police Community Support Officer (PCSO) in Amersham before moving to Little Missenden. By 2008, he trained as a student officer and worked as a response and neighbourhood officer. Since 2015, Simon served as a Roads Policing officer based in Amersham.
Superintendent Simon Dodds paid tribute: “We have tragically lost a member of the police family who worked tirelessly for the communities he served. Our thoughts are with his loved ones during this incredibly difficult time.” Colleagues are receiving welfare support, and a family liaison officer has been assigned to Simon’s family.
Family Mourns ‘Joyful, Humorous’ PC
In a heartfelt statement, Simon’s family said: “He had a unique ability to spread joy and humour to all he came into contact with. So dearly loved, he will be deeply missed and forever in our thoughts.” They also urged anyone with information about the crash to come forward and assist the police investigation.
Ongoing Police Probe After Woman Arrested
A 33-year-old woman from Aylesbury was arrested on Saturday (27 May) on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and driving while unfit due to drink or drugs. She has since been released under investigation as inquiries continue.
