Army Tank Sparks Panic on M27 – But It’s Just Steam!
Fire crews from Fareham rushed to the M27 this evening after reports of a possible fire on a British Army tank.
Two fire crews arrived just after 6.15pm when steam was seen billowing from beneath the tank near Junction 10 on the westbound carriageway.
Overheated Tank Causes Stir
The tank had pulled onto the hard shoulder, and firefighters quickly checked the scene. It turned out the engine had simply overheated—no flames, no fire.
Soldiers onboard must have been a little red-faced as the feared blaze was nothing but hot steam and a bungled engine.
Not the Royal Engineers, Clearly!
Looks like the crew could have used a few extra lessons in tank maintenance. Luckily, the incident caused no major delays or damage.
